Our Home for the Week — Lanka Yoga
Tucked into the tropical landscape along the shores of Koggala Lake, Lanka Yoga was created specifically for experiences like ours. Rather than a hotel transformed into a retreat center, the entire property was purpose-built for yoga, community, rest, and meaningful time together.
At the heart of the property is a spacious open-air yoga shala overlooking the lake, surrounded by lush gardens, fruit trees, tropical wildlife, and quiet places to wander or simply be. Our accommodations, dining spaces, pool, gardens, and shala all live together on the same intimate lakeside campus—making it easy to move between practice, meals, connection, and rest without ever needing to rush.
Lanka Yoga was also built with a deep commitment to the land around it. From solar energy and rainwater collection to regenerative gardens, local sourcing, and thoughtful waste management, sustainability is woven into the way the property operates. Much of the food served from its fully vegan kitchen is inspired by Sri Lankan flavors, with fruits, vegetables, herbs, and spices harvested from the property whenever possible.
And while Lanka Yoga feels wonderfully tucked away, adventure is never far. The beaches and surf of Sri Lanka’s southern coast are minutes away, with historic Galle, tea country, wildlife, and the Indian Ocean all within reach.
For one week, this little corner of jungle and lake becomes home.

Nourished by Sri Lanka
Three vibrant vegan meals each day, prepared fresh in Lanka Yoga’s kitchen and inspired by the flavors of Sri Lanka.
Food is part of the experience here. Expect colorful curries, fragrant rice, tropical fruits, fresh vegetables, coconut, herbs, spices, and meals made to nourish us for days of practice, rest, and adventure.
Lanka Yoga’s relationship with food extends beyond the kitchen. Fruits, vegetables, herbs, and spices are grown on the property whenever possible, connecting what arrives on our plates to the tropical landscape surrounding us.
Meals are entirely plant-based and shared together—time to gather, refuel, connect, and savor the abundance of this extraordinary place.
Dietary needs? Let us know when you register and we’ll work with Lanka Yoga to accommodate dietary requirements whenever possible.
Prepare for Your Retreat
PASSPORT + ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Make sure you have a valid passport with an expiration date at least six months beyond your arrival in Sri Lanka. U.S. travelers currently need a short-term Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) for tourism, which can be completed online prior to travel. Entry requirements can change, so we recommend checking current Sri Lankan immigration guidance well before departure.
FLIGHTS
Plan to arrive in Sri Lanka by February 6, 2028, and depart on February 13, 2028. The primary international airport is Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB), near Colombo.
TRAVEL INSURANCE
Travel insurance is strongly recommended. Consider a comprehensive policy that covers trip cancellation or interruption, medical expenses, lost luggage, and unexpected travel disruptions.
WEATHER + WHAT TO BRING
February is generally a beautiful time to visit Sri Lanka’s southern coast, but this is the tropics and a passing rain shower is always possible. Pack for warm weather, sunshine, water, movement, and adventure. Lightweight and breathable clothing, comfortable walking shoes or sandals, swimwear, sun protection, insect repellent, a light rain layer, and a reusable water bottle are all great additions to your suitcase.
We’ll send registered guests a more complete packing list as the retreat approaches.
POWER + ELECTRONICS
Sri Lanka uses Type G electrical outlets, with three rectangular pins. The standard electricity supply is 230V / 50Hz. Travelers from the U.S. should bring a Type G travel adapter for devices that support 230V. Some appliances may also require a voltage converter.
ADDITIONAL ITEMS TO CONSIDER
Bring any prescription medications you’ll need for the duration of your travels, copies of important travel documents, and spending money or a card for optional trips to Galle, additional massages or surf lessons, shopping, additional food or drinks, and independent adventures.
WE’LL HELP YOU GET READY
As the retreat approaches, we’ll send registered guests more detailed information about arrival, transportation, packing, excursions, and everything you’ll need for your journey to Sri Lanka.
Getting to Lanka Yoga
ARRIVING IN SRI LANKA
Fly into Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB), the main international airport serving Colombo. Lanka Yoga is located on Sri Lanka’s southern coast near Koggala Lake, approximately two hours from the airport by car, depending on traffic.
AIRPORT TRANSFERS
Transportation to and from Lanka Yoga is not included in the retreat price. As we get closer to the retreat, we’ll help connect guests arriving at similar times so you have the option to coordinate and share transportation to Lanka Yoga. Tish can arrange transfers from Colombo through Lanka Yoga for approximately €85 per car. The drive is approximately 2–2.5 hours, depending on traffic.
If you choose to arrive in Sri Lanka early or extend your adventure after the retreat, you can also arrange transportation independently based on your travel plans.
ARRIVAL + DEPARTURE
Our retreat begins February 6, 2028 and concludes February 13, 2028. We’ll provide registered guests with recommended arrival and departure windows closer to the retreat so you can plan your flights accordingly.
COMING EARLY?
We love this idea! After traveling halfway around the world, arriving a day or two early can give you time to adjust to the time change, explore, and arrive at retreat feeling grounded and rested. We’ll share additional recommendations as the retreat approaches.
If your travel plans are delayed or canceled, please let Tish know as soon as possible.
