Tomorrow I fly to Costa Rica for a two-and-a-half-week journey of yoga, connection, jungle magic, and soul restoration. πΏπ«
I’ll be leading the Flourish Yoga Retreat from July 12–19, then staying on to breathe, reflect, and co-create with my dear friend @banks.anderson_ π
Feeling wildly grateful for the path, the pulse, and the strange pull that keeps leading me home to myself.
I’ll miss my people—and you can still practice with me through my class Library + Archive (links in bio). β¨
Where is your heart pulling you lately?

β¨ Sutra 2:24: Clearing the Confusion β¨
Last week we talked about how the union of the Seer and the seen reveals their true power.
This week, we explore how that same union is rooted in ignorance and how we can clear it through the practice of discernment.
Discernment Meditation:
listen to the sounds around you,
then the sounds within you,
and finally, the silence between your thoughts.
That space, that calm below the waves of the mind, is where we find what’s eternal.
As always, there’s so much more to explore, and I’m for the full video and deeper dives into each Sutra, join my Sunday newsletter—link in bio.

Spirit goes to sleep and dreams that it’s you.
The dance of forgetting and remembering, pain and pleasure… that’s what makes life so rich.
π± Being human is an infinitely rare and precious gift.
Yoga invites us back to Presence, again and again — into the wonder of just being human.
May we savor every drop. π

What if healthy pride is actually the antidote to shame? π
For a long time, I confused pride with ego.
But now I see it for what it truly is—
Pride is the inverse energy of shame.
A way back home to the heart. π
Pride isn’t loudness.
It’s a quiet, steady flame that refuses to go out.
Our truest nature is love. The journey to self-acceptance is a journey to the heart of love itself.
This one’s for the misfits, the sacred queers, the tender hearts who are still learning that they are already whole.
So what are you waiting for? Let your light SHINE β¨

β¨ Sutra 2:23: The Power of Contrast β¨
Yes, this reel only caught half my face—let’s call it a metaphor for seeing things from a new angle! π€¦
In this Sutra, we dive into how the Seer and the seen bring each other to life through their union.
Writing with a white pen on dark paper, the contrast makes the message visible.
In the same way, when pure consciousness (Purusha) comes into the physical world (Prakriti), it’s the contrast that allows us to forget and then remember our true nature.
Ignorance is the root of our confusion, but its antidote is the cultivation of True knowledge.
Study the Self, study the scriptures, study the quantum—you’ll find it everywhere if you dig deep enough
This sutra reminds us that every experience we have is a lesson, a reminder, a chance to reawaken.
Who knows what might happen if we embrace the dance of forgetting and remembering? Perhaps we’ll find the power in the contrast.

π “Pride = Self-Love = Divine Worship”
Pride isn’t just a celebration. It’s a reclamation.
Of our dignity.
Of our sacred spark.
Of the truth that we are not separate from the Divine.
What if loving yourself was a spiritual act?
Not ego, but prayer.
This Pride Month, I’m choosing to remember the holiness of being me.

Why Men’s Work? π€
In this IG Live, Banks and I drop into a conversation that’s close to the bone — about brotherhood, about healing, about the why behind men’s work.
He asked me real questions about my journey into this work, what it’s brought me, and why I believe in it so deeply. This is also a glimpse into our friendship — the trust, the reflection, the fire.
If you’re curious about what this work can unlock in your own life (or in the life of someone you love), give it a watch. Then come experience it in person:

I’ve been sitting with the stories of the men in my family—
their gifts, their silence, and the quiet suffering that travels through bloodlines.
The pain we inherit isn’t the pain we have to pass down.
There is another way.
I see it in my brother, a brand new dad.
I see it in my friend @banks.anderson_ showing up as the man he needed when he was young.
Healing is already happening.
This is the legacy I choose.

β¨ Sutra 2:22: When the Seer Wakes Up β¨
According to Classical Yoga philosophy, the world we experience (Prakriti) is like a giant soul factory where every being is shaped, molded, and cultivated through experiences and lessons.
When we wake up (enlightenment) the factory’s job for that soul is complete.
In a sense, life is like playing a video game. When the player remembers they’re not just the character but the one holding the controller, everything shifts. The seen world no longer binds them, and they can move through life with a new perspective, one of pure consciousness (Purusha).
Imagine that every experience, every joy, every challenge is happening for you, calling you closer to awakening.
Are you willing to embrace the journey, receive the lessons, and remember who you really are?

I’ve been thinking a lot about legacy. About the wounds we inherit.
About the way strength sometimes builds walls instead of bridges.
As I watch the men around me soften into strength and show up with heart, I feel the wound in our lineage healing.
It didn’t start with us,
but it can end with us.

β¨ Sutra 2:21: All that is seen exists for the sake of the Seer β¨
A bed exists for the sleeper—not for the bed’s sake.
In the same way, every moment of our lives exists for us (for the Self, for the Seer) to awaken.
Nothing you see, feel, or move through is random or meaningless.
It’s the divine unfolding for itself…
through you.
So instead of asking, “Why is this happening to me?”
Try asking, “Why is this happening for me?”
Every heartbreak, every joy, every breeze against your cheek is the divine pulse pointing us back to what we really are.
This path is made for you. Keep walking.

I felt ragged this week from overcommitting.

β¨Our s*xuality holds immense power.

This week’s newsletter is a spicy one.

π Sutra 2:20: The Seer Distorted by the Mind π
When consciousness reflects through a still, clear mind, we see Truth.
But when the mental waters are disturbed (by emotion/thought/ego) we forget who we really are.
We start believing we are the body, the story, the feelings.
But the eternal Self is deeper than all of that.
Still. Spacious. Unmoving.
The ancient sages invite us to pause—
take a breath…
and just witness.
No fixing, no judging, just pure presence.
This is how we return to Source.
How we remember.

Ahem! …Can we talk about the sacred power of sexuality please?
What if spirituality and sexuality aren’t opposites but two expressions of the same life force? π₯
We’re taught to split them apart: to worship the God while hiding our pleasure, our desire, our dirty bodily urges. But what if our sensuality is a path to the Divine? What if healing our sexual shame is actually healing our soul?

β¨ Facing life is facing the walls we’ve built inside and the wounded parts we’re protecting behind them.
Life is entropy. Facing life is facing the chaos, letting go of the gripping and controlling.
This to me is the slow growth of transformation. In my journey, I’ve seen how growth often hides in the places I avoid—behind fear, vulnerability, and the talking head inside that says “you can’t.”
There’s a truth I know and I’m holding onto:
π± Presence will fruit of I just keep showing up.

β¨ Yoga Sutra 2:19: A Map to the Divine β¨
Everything in nature—everything we experience—is made up of four layers:
π Physical matter
ππ¨ Sensations, thoughts, emotions
π₯ Buddhi, the awakened witness
π And Prakriti—the source, the unmanifest, the mystery
This sutra reminds us: we’re not just living in the world…
we’re part of a much deeper unfolding.
We can trace our way from the surface of reality—what we see and feel—back to the witness, and beyond that, to the source itself.
When we move through life with that awareness,
every interaction becomes sacred.
Every moment, a doorway back to the Self.
π‘Have you felt that subtle shift—when a moment pulls you closer to something greater?

π¬οΈ I used to think God hated me.
Because I didn’t fit the mold.
Because I loved differently.
Because I asked too many questions.
But over the years, I’ve come to understand something deeper:
God isn’t a gatekeeper.
God is the gate.
The breath.
The light we return to.
Last week’s newsletter was about healing my relationship with the Divine—and I have a feeling I’m not alone on this path. π
β¨ If you’ve ever wrestled with the word “God”…
β¨ If you’ve ever feared you were too much or not enough…
β¨ If you’re reclaiming your spiritual connection, on your terms…

β¨ Yoga Sutra 2:18: What It’s All For β¨
Everything we experience—our thoughts, sensations, emotions, and the world around us—is made up of the three gunas:
π Illumination (sattva)
π₯ Activity (rajas)
π Heaviness (tamas)
And because they’re always shifting, everything we experience is changeable.
So what’s the point of it all?
Patañjali tells us the Seen exists for two reasons:
1. To entertain us. To pull us into attachment, distraction, craving, aversion.
2. To awaken us. To bring us back to the Self, the part of us untouched by change.
We have to get kicked around by life enough times before we start to look differently at the game.
But once we do—
everything becomes a doorway.
π‘Where are you being pulled into distraction?
And where might life be offering you a mirror to wake up?
